Visiting our Churches

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Churches.

When & where does the church meet?
Every Sunday: Holy Innocents' @ 9:30 am, St John's @ 10:30 am and St Peter's @ 3:00pm (1st, 2nd, 3rd Sunday) and 6pm (4th Sunday).
Every Wednesday for the Eucharist at 10am: The first, third and fifth Wednesday we meet at St John's and the second and fourth at Holy Inocennts'.
The 5th Sunday of every month is our team service where all the churches come together to worship; these begin at 10:00 am see latest news and our facebook page for venue.
The 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 6:00pm there is evensong at St John's.

What should I expect when I visit the church?
The worship at each church is slightly different but we hope you feel equally welcomed at every church! St John's and Holy Innocents' are both rooted in the Anglo Catholic with St John's having a robed choir and organist. St Peter's is more innovative and creative in its worship embracing other traditions such as Iona, Celtic and Cafe Church.

Is there provision for children?
There are currently no Sunday School activities for children.  At St John’s children can borrow an Activity Bag to keep their attention during the service.  We run two Messy Churches a month which are especially suitable for families, and have a weekly family service The Praise Maze 1.30pm Wednesdays at HI.

Is there a dress code?
No, come as you are! The priests and other member who take a leading role are likely to be dressed in church robes.

Will I have to join in?
It's up to you! You can join in the service or just observe.

What happens at the Sunday Morning Eucharist service?

When you arrive you will be given a sheet with the outline of the service and a hymn book. Most of our services are in three parts: the first part helps us get right with God, the second part helps us listen and understand the Bible and the third focuses on communion. After this we normally have some notices about events that are happening before receiving a blessing from the priest and being sent back into the world to share God's love with everyone we meet. This service lasts approximately one hour.

What happens at Evensong?
Evensong happens twice a month at St John’s, the second and fourth Sundays at 6:30 pm. When you arrive, you will be given an order of service for you to follow. The service is mainly sung by the choir but there are sections you can join in with if you wish such as the prayers and hymns. There is also a sermon and the whole service lasts approximately 45 minutes.

I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them?
Please feel free to email or phone one of the clergy.
