Children's Ministry

Kids 3
In Kidderminster West Team Ministry we believe that children are important members of the church in their own right. Children are always welcome at our services and events. We take the safeguarding of children very seriously and have our own Safeguarding Officer. Below are some of the events and services we run to help children and young people grow in their faith and participate in church life.

Sunday worship: We currently have no led Sunday school in our churches.  At St John’s Church your child can borrow an Activity Bag to help keep their attention during the service.

Tiny Tots: (pre-schoolers and their parents/carers) is a playgroup running during term-time in the Refectory at the back of St John’s Church 10am-12noon, 50p per child
Little Fishes (pre-schoolers and their parents/carers) is a playgroup running during term-time at Peter’s Church 10am-12noon, 50p per child

Youth Zone: (11-16 years) run with the YMCA meets in St John’s Refectory on Tuesdays evenings during term-time for games, activities, discussion and a general good time.  6pm-7.30pm, no charge.

Messy Church: meets at St Peter’s Church on the 2nd Sunday of each month, and St John’s Church on the 3rd Sunday of each month.  This is a great way for all the family to follow Jesus together.  There are activities, crafts, songs, stories to grow our faith.  There is no charge and everyone is welcome.

The Praise Maze: is a weekly service 1.30pm at Holy Innocents' Church.  It is a musical, interactive, multisensory church service for little ones and their carers.  The service lasts about 30 minutes, followed by refreshments.

Special Services and events: Throughout the year we have a number of special services and events which may be especially suitable for children and young people.  In the past this has included a service on Godparents’ Sunday to celebrate the role of godparents in children’s lives, an annual pet service, a prayer-bear picnic, children’s workshops on Good Friday and other occasions, and a living crib service telling the Christmas story.   Keep an eye on our Facebook page, or join our mailing list for more information!

Serving in church: We are looking to develop ways in which children and young people can be involved in the life of our church.  This might be by training as an acolyte (altar server), singing with the choir, reading the lesson or leading the prayers.
