St Peter’s Community Church is located on a 1950’s housing estate on the edge of Kidderminster off the main road to Stourport On Severn. The estate serves 800 houses and the church was built as part of a campaign by Worcestershire diocese to build satellite churches on modern housing estates in the 1950’s.  The building is actually a purpose-built church--hall that has a main hall with a consecrated altar end that is screened off during the week. This allows the main building to be used in a variety of ways as a community resource.  At present this includes use by child minding sessions, dance classes, private parties and events and as a polling station. It is also used by the church for their many outreach and mission projects and DCC/PCC meetings.  In the 1980’s two rooms were added on the side of the church which serve as extra meeting and storage facilities. We have created a secure soft tarmac/grassed children’s garden/play area and installed remote controlled projector and screen.

Currently, we hold services every Sunday at 11.00am.  Two of these services is a Eucharist, one is a cafe church and the other is a sing praise. Our worship ranges from traditional to reflective Taizé, as well as Fresh Expressions such as Café Church, sing praise and communion by numbers.

We are a small enthusiastic group of people who are very community minded and want to grow our work here at St Peter’s.  Lay members are happy to be involved with taking services, leading worship and reading the lesson or prayers.

We have a big focus on mission here at St Peter’s and have, for over fourteen years, run a community breakfast morning every Monday from 10-12noon, which is open to all. We host a Djembe drumming class for all abilities and ages each Thursday followed by a community choir.

We are working together with Kidderminster Transition helping people to live sustainably with a low carbon footprint.  So, at St Peters, we have monthly Food group and a regular ‘Make, Mend and Chat‘ evening where we meet and do crafts together. All are welcome at these events. We have a community allotment at the back of the church grounds, with raised beds and a cob oven and have plans to develop this further.

You are warmly invited to join us for any of our services or events.
